California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal crash in Madera County on Tuesday morning. The two-vehicle crash happened around 5 a.m. in the area of Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 13, just outside of Madera. CHP officers say a driver was traveling down 18 1/2 Avenue and ran into the back of a slower tractor that was hauling a large piece of farming equipment on the roadway. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor driver survived but it is unclear if they suffered any injuries.
