Pedestrian Seriously Injured in a Porterville Hit-and-Run DUI Crash

April 8, 2019- A drunk driving car accident, severely injured pedestrian, in Porterville, on Monday.  The Tulare County hit-and-run auto collision occurred on Indiana Street, during the early morning hours.

Mohamed Mohamed, 22, was driving a BMW while under the influence of alcohol, at a high rate of speed on Indiana Street.  At the intersection of Teapot Dome Avenue, the automobile ran a stop sign and continued down a private dirt road.

duicarcrash3.jpg34-year-old Geronimo Gonzalez, was standing by his parked pickup truck at the time the BMW drove down the street.  The auto crashed into the pedestrian and truck, and sent the victim flying into the air.

The impact sent the pickup into another parked vehicle, and the BMW clipped a propane tank.  The driver then attempted to flee the scene of the accident on foot.  He was found quickly afterward in his home which was nearby.

Gonzalez suffered serious injuries; including both his legs being severed.  He was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.  He is listed in critical condition.

Mohamed sustained minor injuries.  He was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run.
