September 18, 2018- A fatal multi-vehicle crash took place on Tuesday, west of Kerman. The Fresno County big rig accident occurred on Highway 180, at around 9:50 PM.
A 1997 Honda, driven by a 23-year-old Kerman man, was headed east on Whitesbridge Avenue/SR 180, near Napa Avenue. The automobile drifted onto the side of the highway and overcorrected. The Honda lost control, crossed over into oncoming traffic, and collided with a 2006 Toyota driven by Rodolfo Avila Mojarro.
A 2003 GMC, driven by Jose Garcilazo-Campos, then smashed into the Honda. The impact caused the car to be pushed back into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a 2016 Peterbilt semi truck hauling grapes.
The Honda’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Katia Mojarro, a passenger in the Toyota, suffered major injuries. she was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
Others involved in the accident suffered minor injuries.
