Fatal Big Rig Accident, near Corcoran, on Poplar Avenue and Highway 43

On Saturday, July 15, 2017, an automobile accident ended in fatality, in Kings County.  The big rig collision happened near Corcoran, on Poplar Avenue, at about 9:25 AM.

A 2000 Toyota, driven by Alexandro Urbano, of Porterville, was traveling west on Poplar Avenue, near Corcoran State Prison.  At the intersection of Highway 43, the Toyota failed to stop at the stop sign.

The car was hit by a 2013 Peterbilt semi truck, driven by an Illinois man.  The tractor-trailer had been southbound on the highway and crashed into the passenger side of the Toyota.

Urbano’s mother, who was a passenger in the car, died in the collision.

Urbano and the driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.

Issues still remaining to be investigated; determining whether road conditions may have contributed to this accident and any malfunctions of the vehicle.
