Hit-and-Run Bicycle Collision Ends in Fatality on Highway 184, in Bakersfield

Central California Wrongful Death Attorney John Rozier has the following accident report; On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Bakersfield.  The Kern County bicycle collision happened on Highway 184, during the nighttime hours.

A 54-year-old man was riding his bicycle in the area of State Route 184 and Muller Road.  At the intersection, the bike rider was struck by a white Bobtail truck.  The vehicle then fled the scene.


Following the truck, Juan Ureno Barrios, of Porterville, then hit the victim with his car.  Barrios did not realize he had hit the man until later when he read news reports about the crash.  Once he found out, he alerted authorities to what happened.

The bicyclist died at the scene.

The original hit-and-run driver is still unknown.
