April 26, 2017- An auto collision ended fatally for one and injured others on Wednesday, north of Bakersfield. The Kern County head-on vehicle accident happened on Highway 65, at approximately 5:00 PM.
A Mercury Mystique was driving north on State Route 65. Near Lerdo Highway, the car drifted off the highway. The driver over-corrected and lost control.
The Mercury veered over the center line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle crashed head-on with a Saturn Vue.
A 70-year man who was a passenger in the Mystique was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mercury suffered severe injuries and was taken by helicopter to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.
Five occupants in the Saturn sustained moderate injuries and were also transported to the hospital.
