On Monday, March 27, 2017, a drunk driving collision killed three people, near Hanford. The Kings County car accident occurred on Highway 43, at about 8:25 PM.
Kristin Wimbley, 44, of Corcoran, was driving a 2015 Chevy Equinox, with passengers Alphonso Wimbley, 55, and Kyan Wimbley, 14. The Chevrolet was headed south on State Route 43.
At the intersection of the highway, and Idaho Avenue, a 1992 Chevy Silverado truck traveling east, failed to stop at the posted sign. The pickup, driven by Adalberto Carrillo, of Tulare, smashed into the SUV.
The Equinox overturned and came to rest in a southeast field on its roof.
Alphonso and Kyan Wimbley died at the scene. Kristin Wimbley suffered fatal injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Carrillo, who was suspected of driving while under the influence, sustained major injuries. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.
He has since been arrested for DUI and could face other charges connected to the collision.
