On Friday, November 11, 2016, a fatal big rig crash took place near Easton. The Fresno County semi truck collision happened on Manning and West avenues, during the early morning hours.
The CHP reported that an automobile failed to stop at the posted sign, at the intersection of Manning Avenue and West Avenue. The car drove directly into the path of a tractor-trailer.
The semi was unable to stop in time and smashed into the vehicle. Following the initial accident, another car crashed into the wreckage.
The driver of the first car died at the scene.
A passenger in the first auto suffered injuries. And the driver of the second vehicle also sustained injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The big rig driver was unharmed.
Fog may have contributed to the collision.
