Multi-Vehicle Crash on Bear Mountain Boulevard Kills One, in Bakersfield

October 17, 2016- A fatal multiple vehicle crash occurred in Bakersfield, on Monday.  The Kern County van collision happened on Bear Mountain Boulevard at around 8:23 PM.

Fidencio Colmenares, 52, of Arvin, was driving a 1996 Plymouth Voyager minivan at a high rate of speed, on State Route 223.  The van was traveling eastbound when it sideswiped a Kenworth tractor-trailer, near South H Street.

The Plymouth lost control, heading east in the westbound lane, and smashed head-on into a white Dodge Ram 4500.  The pickup truck, driven by Timothy Smith, 32, had been traveling west on Bear Mountain Boulevard.

Colmenares was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.

Smith suffered moderate injuries.  He was transported to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.

The driver of the big rig was not hurt.
