October 23, 2016- A DUI pickup truck accident ended in fatality, west of Delano. The Kern County rollover vehicle crash happened on Wildwood Road and Garces Highway, at about 6:00 AM.
Adrian Meza, 35, of Arvin, was driving a black GMC pickup truck northbound on Wildwood Road. He failed to stop at the posted sign, at the intersection of Garces Highway.
The GMC crashed into a white Dodge truck, pulling a cattle trailer. The Dodge, driven by Ernesto Aranda, 42, was traveling west on Garces Highway at the time of the collision.
After the two trucks collided, the GMC overturned, and the cattle trailer on the Dodge rolled over as well.
Juvenar Lopez Moreno, a passenger in Meza’s pickup, died at the scene.
Antonio Jaramillo, another passenger in the GMC, suffered serious injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. While Meza sustained moderate injuries. Both men were taken to Kern Medical Center.
A fourth occupant in the GMC, Manuel Ariciga Jr., sustained minor injuries and was transported to Delano Regional Medical Center.
Aranda and his passenger were not hurt in the incident.
Meza is suspected to have been driving while intoxicated.
