On Friday, October 14, 2016, a fatal vehicle crash took place in Bakersfield, The Kern County rollover SUV accident happened on Highway 58, at around 7:30 PM.
A suspect in an armed robbery was driving an SUV fleeing from Sheriff’s deputies. The Sport Utility Vehicle drove onto the eastbound Hwy 58 freeway, while headed west, near Union Avenue.
The authorities reported that the suspect was traveling at about 90 mph in the center median of the highway. The SUV then tried to turn left, and crashed into another car, driven by Jessica Nino, 20-years-old.
The SUV overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle. It then caught fire.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the SUV; Cristobal Montes, 51, of Lamont, suffered injuries. Nino was also injured in the collision.
Both injured parties were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
