June 21, 2016- A California Highway Patrol officer was hurt in a vehicle accident on Tuesday, in Fresno. The motorcycle collision happened on Highway 180, at approximately 5:30 PM.
Officer Tanner Bean, 28, of Hanford, a CHP motorcycle cop, was responding to a blue pickup truck crash on eastbound Highway 180.
As the officer was helping the initial accident, a red Chevy Silverado changed lanes and didn’t see Bean. The Chevrolet truck tried to swerve and struck the officer and the motorcycle.
The motorcycle flipped over the center median of the freeway, and burst into flames.
Officer Bean suffered major injuries, including injuries to his leg and head. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was from Sanger, was not hurt in the incident.
