April 12, 2016- Two victims were killed in an SUV collision, on Tuesday, in Merced County. The car accident happened at approximately 2:00 PM, on Highway 59.
The CHP reported that a 25 year old Los Banos woman was driving a red Nissan 200sx, with a 5-6 year old boy, and a baby in the automobile as well. The car was headed down Highway 59, near McNamara Road, when the driver attempted to pass some other vehicles in front of her.
Reports say the woman misjudged the distance to oncoming traffic, and crashed head-on into a silver Nissan Murano SUV.
The car’s driver and her son were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
The infant in the Nissan was taken to the hospital.
The 34 year old driver of the Sport Utility Vehicle, also of Los Banos, suffered major injuries. She was airlifted to a Merced Hospital.
