Big Rig Collision Ends in Fatality, near Lemoore, at Kansas and 18th Avenues

On March 9, 2016, a fatal semi truck collision occurred just south of Lemoore.  The automobile crash happened on Kansas and 18th avenues, at about 12:49 PM.

A woman driving a 2016 Scion iA, was traveling south on 18th Avenue, with a 3 year old passenger.  The Scion failed to stop at the stop sign, at the intersection of Kansas Avenue.

The car crashed into a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by a 45 year old Dos Palos man, and got wedged underneath.  The Scion was dragged for more than 300 feet before the semi truck stopped.

The female driver of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.

The big rig’s driver was not hurt.

Issues still remaining to be investigated include determining the speed of the big rig, whether road conditions may have contributed to this accident, and whether the facts of this accident as reported are accurate.
