On Thursday, January 28, 2016, a fatal hit-and-run truck accident occurred near Hanford. The head-on vehicle crash happened in Kings County, on State Route 43, at about 5:50 PM.
A white pickup truck was driving west on Idaho Avenue, when it ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 43.
At the same time a 2010 GMC Terrain, driven by a Fresno man, 49, was headed north on Highway 43, and had the right-of-way.
The pickup smashed into the SUV, and the GMC swerved into the southbound lane of the highway, where it collided head-on with a green 1996 Toyota Avalon.
A passenger in the automobile; a 69 year old Fresno woman, sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at Adventist Medical Center, in Hanford.
The 70 year old driver of the car suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente, in Fresno, for treatment. A third occupant in the Toyota was also hurt, and taken to Adventist hospital.
The Sport Utility Vehicle’s driver sustained injuries too, and was taken by ambulance to Saint Agnes Hospital, in Fresno.
After the initial collision, the pickup truck drove away. There are no reports on whether the suspect has been apprehended.
