On Thursday, January 28, 2016, a fatal head-on SUV crash took place east of Hanford. The suspected hit-and-run vehicle collision happened on Highway 43 and Idaho Avenue, at about 5:50 PM.
A black 2010 GMC Terrain, driven by a 49 year old Fresno man, was headed north on the Central Valley Highway. At the intersection of Idaho Avenue, a white pickup truck driving westbound ran a stop sign and smashed into the SUV.

The impact of the crash caused the Sport Utility Vehicle to swerve into the southbound lane of Hwy 43. It crashed head-on into a green 1996 Toyota Avalon, driven by a 70 year old Clovis man.
The white pickup then fled the scene after the collision. It was last seen headed north on the highway.
A 69 year old Fresno woman in the Toyota, was pronounced dead.
The Toyota’s driver, another passenger, and the GMC’s driver all suffered moderate to major injuries.
