November 11, 2015- An SUV collision killed motorcyclist and one other victim in Visalia, on Wednesday. The motorcycle accident happened at the Save Mart shopping center, on Akers Street, at about 6:00 PM.
A 2008 Yamaha bike, driven by Cody Holmes, 26, was headed northbound on Akers Street, near Goshen Avenue. A white, 2004 Hyudai Sport Utility Vehicle, driven by Phyllis Fechner, 85, was traveling south on the same street.
The SUV made a left-hand turn into the grocery store parking lot, right into the path of the motorcycle. Holmes did not have time to swerve out of the way, and the biker collided with the Hyundai.
Holmes suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
Fechner sustained severe head wounds and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno. She died from her injuries the next day while in the hospital.
Another occupant in the Hyundai; William Smith, 90, also suffered major head trauma. He was taken by helicopter to CRMC, in Fresno, for treatment of his injuries.
