October 12, 2015- A semi truck and pickup towing a horse trailer were involved in a crash in Madera County, on Monday. The big rig accident took place on northbound Highway 99, at approximately 12:40 AM.
A Freightliner, driven by Sohan Lal, 62 years old, of Pittsburg, entered Highway 99 north from the offramp, while driving south. Lal tried to turn the tractor-trailer around, once he realized he was going the wrong way on the freeway.
As the big rig attempted to make a u-turn, north of Avenue 8, a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer, with a horse inside, crashed into the semi.
The trailer overturned, and Ricardo Gonzalez, the driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
The horse was rescued from the trailer and received some minor injuries to it’s legs.
No other injuries were reported.
