January 4, 2015- A head-on car accident was caused by drunk driving, on Highway 41, on Sunday. The DUI vehicle collision took place in Madera County, at approximately 8 PM.
California Highway Patrol said the driver of a blue Dodge pickup truck was southbound on Highway 41, when it swerved into the opposite lanes of traffic, near Avenue 12.
The Dodge truck ran into a white sedan, driven by a female driver from Coarsegold, which sent the car crashing into the guardrail. The pickup then overturned.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, until emergency personnel could extricate them. They sustained minor injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
Officers determined that the driver of the truck was driving while under the influence of alcohol. His Dodge was registered in Nevada.
