June 25, 2014- A big rig and truck collision took place near Lost Hills, northwest of Bakersfield, on Wednesday. The Kern County accident left both drivers seriously hurt, after the vehicles crashed head-on.
A fuel tanker semi truck was driving in the area of State Route 46 and Route 33 near Blackwell’s Corner. The tanker, driven by Jose Martinez, reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of the highways. This caused the big rig to hit a black pickup truck, that was driven by David Blanchet, head-on.
David Blanchet, who is the Vice President of Paramount Farms, suffered major injuries, and was airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
Jose Martinez also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center.
