On November 23 a 10-year-old girl was killed when the car she was riding in rolled while traveling on County Road 22 near Woodland. The vehicle was traveling about 85 mph when the driver lost control for unknown reasons. The driver, a female passenger, and a four-year-old girl suffered major injuries and a one-year-old boy was critically injured. The ten-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other victims were air lifted to UC Davis Medical Center. Relatives decribed the male driver and the female passenger as boyfriend and girlfriend. The two older children belonged to the woman and the one-year-old belonged to the man. They were returning from a trip to Tulare where they picked up the one-year-old for the Thanksgiving holiday. Officers are investigating possible seat belt and child safety seat violations. Monetary compensation cannot bring back the deceased or heal the injured, but it can help to ease the pain of medical and other expenses.
