March 4 bicycle accident in Merced kills a seven-year-old girl

On March 4 Joanna Topete was killed when she was hit by a car while riding her bike in Merced. According to reports Joanna was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk near the Sunny View Apartments on D Street in Merced when she turned into the parking lot of the apartment complex. Joanna was then hit by a truck. The truck was leaving the parking lot as Joanna entered. She died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck stopped and got out to help Joanna. He was not driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

March 4 fatal rollover accident in Stanislaus County

On March 4 one man was killed and five other people were injured in a rollover accident on I-5 near Newman in Stanislaus County. According to reports Paula Jacobo was traveling north on I-5 in a Ford Expedition when she made a sudden lane change. Then she sharply turned left and lost control of the vehicle. The Expedition then left the road and rolled over. She was traveling with an adult male passenger and four children. The man and three of the four children in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.  The three unbuckled children were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. The driver and the fourth child were wearing seat belts and only suffered minor injuries. However, the man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

March 4 wrongful death Highway 41 accident near Coarsegold

On March 4 Abraham Marquez Zamudio was killed in a wrongful death accident on Highway 41 near Coarsegold. Reportedly Zamudio was traveling northbound on Highway 41 when he crossed into the oncoming lane. The driver of the oncoming vehicle tried to stop but ended up spinning out when she was side swiped by Zamudio's vehicle. Zamudio then veered off the edge of the road and rolled down an embankment, hitting a boulder and tree as he went. Zamudio was not wearing a seat belt and as a result was thrown from the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle had minor burns caused by the air bag deployment. /

March 4 Visalia Police Officer hit by a car

On March 4 a Visalia police officer was hit by a car. Reportedly the officer, J. Speer, and another officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived they got out of their vehicle and saw a pickup truck coming towards them. The truck clipped Speer in the knee before crashing into a ditch. Speer was taken to Kaweah Delta where he was examined and released. /

March 4 Tulare County dump truck accident

On March 4 Ken Lowe was run over by a dump truck while washing another dump truck at Avenue 256 and Lovers Lane in Visalia. Reportedly Lowe backed into the path of another truck while trying to straighted the water hose he was using. Lowe was flown to Community Regional Medical Center. /
