Two Teens Hurt from Crash in Modesto

October 5, 2011- Two high school students were injured in a crash Wednesday morning, in Modesto north of Fresno.A 17 year-old Ceres teen was driving a silver Honda Civic westbound on Scenic Drive at approximately 7:30 AM, with her 16 year-old passenger from Modesto.For unexplained reasons, the driver lost control of the Honda and swerved into the eastbound traffic. The passenger side of the vehicle was broadsided by a blue Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries and the passenger was seriously injured. They were taken to local hospitals.The driver of the Eclipse, a Lodi resident, was not injured.Officers said that speed and road conditions were believed to be factors in the accident. The street was slippery from an overnight rain

March 21 accident on Scenic Drive in Modesto

On March 21 a woman and her dog were injured in an accident in Modesto. According to reports the woman was driving east on Scenic Drive when, for unknown reason, she lost control of her vehicle. Then she hit a light pole near Bodem Street and knocked it over. The driver was pinned in her vehicle until rescue crews removed the door and pulled her out. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. The dog in the vehicle dog was taken by animal control officers to a local shelter.

December 1 accident in Modesto on Scenic Drive

On December 1 there was an accident on Scenic Drive near Eastridge Drive in Modesto. Reportedly a Jeep drifted across the middle line going around 50 mph and subsequently hit a pickup truck that was also traveling about 50 mph. The drivers of both vehicles were pinned in their respective vehicles. Both drivers suffered major injuries, but only the injuries sustained by the driver of the Jeep are considered to be potentially life threatening.

March 22 wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto on Claus Road near Scenic Drive

On March 22  William Foltz was killed in a wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto on Claus Road near Scenic Drive. Reportedly Foltz was trying to cross into the left lane from the right lane when he was hit from behind. Witnesses reported that Foltz was wearing a helmet, had signaled, but did not check to see that the lane was clear before entering it. Foltz suffered serious injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died. the driver of the pickup truck that hit Foltz is not being cited at this time. Alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be a factor in this case. /

January 23 Modesto pickup accident at Scenic Drive and Lakewood Avenue

On January 23 Jonathan Sallas suffered life-threatening injuries after running a stop sign at Scenic Drive and Lakewood Avenue in Modesto. Reportedly Sallas was driving southbound on Lakewood when he failed to stop at a stop sign. He then hit an embankment, became airborn, and came to rest on a hill. It is unknown whether Sallas will survive this crash as he has severe head injuries and possible broken bones. It remains to be seen if alcohol, speed, or a blocked stop sign could have attributed to this accident. /
