Janie and Nick Flocchini were killed when their Mercedes was rear-ended and forced into oncoming traffic in Fresno County on Colorado Road near Sumner. Their car was struck by a Honda driven by Silvia Gonzales, who was allegedly under the influence of marijuana and another illegal drug, according to California Highway Patrol. Flocchini's Mercedes spun out of control and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck carrying two more victims, who were transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The Mercedes then burst into flames, killing both passengers.
A two-vehicle accident took place on Sunday afternoon near Lake Kaweah involving an alleged drunk driver leaving one dead and five injured. The fatal Tulare County collision occurred on Highway 198 west of Road 248.
Angel Jimenez, the driver of the truck had been traveling west on Sunset, when he turned suddenly in front of the biker, and the two vehicles collided. Cottengim was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.Jimenez who was driving drunk at the time of the crash, was arrested. He and his wife were uninjured.
Upon impact with the truck, the motorcyclist was ejected from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Jimenez and his wife were not injured.The California Highway Patrol reported that Jimenez had a blood-alcohol level that was greater than .08. He was arrested at the scene of the crash for drunk driving.

A 22 year old female driver, Otilia Pineda, of Allensworth, was traveling in a 2003 GMC truck. She was driving northbound on Highway 43, when the pickup drove into the oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes, south of Avenue 16.
A 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Royale sedan, driven by a man in his 50's, was head south on the highway at the time the GMC came towards it. The car tried to avoid the pickup truck by swerving onto the right shoulder of the road. The vehicles collided head-on.
The Oldsmobile driver died at the scene of the accident.
Pineda, who had one prior for driving while intoxicated, and was on probation, fled the crash. She was found by police at her house and was arrested.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, until emergency personnel could extricate them. They sustained minor injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.Officers determined that the driver of the truck was driving while under the influence of alcohol. His Dodge was registered in Nevada.
