A two-vehicle accident took place on Sunday afternoon near Lake Kaweah involving an alleged drunk driver leaving one dead and five injured. The fatal Tulare County collision occurred on Highway 198 west of Road 248. 

Joshua Young was driving a 2001 Mercedes westbound on 198 when he attempted to pass vehicles ahead of him, hitting speeds of 80 miles per hour according to California Highway Patrol. His vehicle collideded with a 2011 GMC Yukon driven by Amanda Clark of Tulare causing major damage to both vehicles. Young’s passenger, Sylvia Rosemarie Chandler, died at the scene, while Clark was air lifted to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with major injuries. Clark’s three passengers, including two children, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
