May 13, 2019- A semi truck collision kills two on Monday, just north of Visalia. The Tulare County multi-vehicle crash happened on Highway 63, at about 8:00 AM.
A Peterbilt tractor-trailer hauling lemons, driven by Juan Carlos Cortez Garcia, was headed north on Dinuba Boulevard/SR 63. At that time a Toyota that had been traveling southbound, was stopped waiting to turn left into a driveway near Avenue 336.
A Honda, which was also driving south, tried to pass the turning sedan on the right side of the roadway. The automobile lost control and veered into the northbound lane.
The big rig tried to swerve right to avoid the Honda but was unable to, and the two vehicles smashed into each other. The impact then sent the autos into a walnut tree.
The semi's trailers jackknifed into the Toyota.
There were two occupants in the Honda, a woman and possibly a boy. Both victims died at the scene.
The driver and passenger in the Toyota suffered major injuries. They were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.
The semi truck driver was not hurt, according to reports.
