Fatal Pickup Truck Crash on Mooney Boulevard, in Visalia, Caused by DUI

May 5, 2019- A pickup truck crash ended fatally, on Sunday, in Visalia.  The Tulare County DUI automobile accident took place on Mooney Boulevard, at around 4:30 PM.

A silver 2001 Acura sedan, driven by Ricardo Tavizon, was headed west on Avenue 272.  At the intersection of Mooney Boulevard, the driver entered the roadway directly into the path of a black 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck.

visalia-car-truck-accident-fatality-mooney-boulevard-avenue-272-shane-minugh-ricardo-tavizon-dui-may-2019.jpgThe Chevy, which was driven by Shane Minugh, was traveling northbound on Mooney at the time the Acura drove in front of him.  The truck was unable to stop in time and collided into the car.

A passenger in the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Tavizon sustained minor injuries and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.  He was released from the hospital and arrested for driving while intoxicated, and for driving without a license.

Minugh and his passenger were not hurt in the incident.

Officers believe that there were more occupants in the Acura, but they fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
