On Monday, August 15, 2016, three people were killed in a head-on car collision that took place southwest of Lake Isabella. The Kern County truck accident occurred on Highway 178, east of Kern Canyon Road, at about 3 PM.
Deborah Doubledee, 63, of Morro Bay, was driving a sedan with passengers, Alan Henry, 86, and Bettie Henry, 81. The passengers were both from Wofford Heights. The automobile was traveling on State Route 178 along Kern River Canyon.
As the car was headed down the roadway, a 28-year-old man, driving a red pickup truck veered into the lane. The truck and sedan collided head-on.
Doubledee and Alan Henry died at the scene. Bettie Henry suffered fatal injuries as well, and later died at Kern Medical Center.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered severe injuries. He was taken to KMC in Bakersfield for treatment.
The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.
