May 13, 2016- A deadly train collision happened in Madera County, on Friday. The pickup truck accident ended in three fatalities, at about 12:30-1 PM.
The CHP have reported that the incident occurred when a freight train was stopped on one set of tracks at Avenue 9 and Road 33 1/2. A pickup truck tried to go around the stopped train.
The white truck drove up a dirt road and crossed the tracks, but did not see an Amtrak train on the other set of tracks.
The Amtrak had no time to stop and smashed into the pickup. Two of the occupants in the truck were ejected from the vehicle.
The three victims in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
The train’s engineer suffered minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
