On Friday, March 11, 2016, a hit-and-run collision killed one pedestrian, west of Kerman. The Fresno County SUV crash occurred on Highway 180, at approximately 11:20 PM.
A 1996 Ford Sport Utility Vehicle, driven by Uziel Romero-Gonzalez, was eastbound on Highway 180. The SUV was traveling at about 55-60 mph, when it struck Darren Garza, 41, of Fresno.
The pedestrian had been walking across the highway, near Napa Avenue, at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Ford fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later.
Garza was pronounced dead at the collision site.
