September 15, 2015- a big rig collision ended in the death of two people, on Tuesday. The multiple vehicle accident occurred on Highway 99, near Visalia, at around 5:50 AM.
It is reported that a tractor-trailer was driving on southbound Hwy 99 at about 55 mph. The driver failed to slow down in time for stalled traffic, north of Betty Drive.
The semi truck smashed into a white Toyota Sienna minivan, then continued on to hit a Chevrolet Tahoe, and a box truck.
The Chevy pickup truck and the big rig burst into flames, and the minivan rolled several times.
A 39 year old Parlier woman, who was the driver of the Tahoe, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A Fresno man, 18, who was a passenger in the Toyota van, also died.
Three other victims in the minivan sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the semi, and the box truck were unharmed.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the cause of the accident was from the tractor-trailer’s driver not paying attention to traffic on the freeway.
