August 4 Madera County bicycle accident

On August 4 Sebastian Ruiz was injured when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle near Road 24 and Avenue 14 in Madera County. According to reports Sebastian was riding on Road 24 off the paved part when a four-door car drifted off the road and hit him. Sebastian landed on the hood of the car before he was thrown onto the shoulder of the road. The driver of the car quickly took off. Sebastian was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center. He was originally listed in moderate condition, but his condition has since been downgraded to critical. The driver of the vehicle is said to have been drinking when he hit Sebastian on his bike. /

As an update, the speed of the vehicle can be determined in some cases from the black box data in the vehicle airbag.  Possible sources of recovery include the insurance policy for the at fault driver, underinsured motorist coverage for the victim's family, and punitive damages.  Please give us a call.
